Denmark's krone arrived on 1 January 1875, replacing the rigsdaler at two kroner per rigsdaler and putting the country on the gold standard within the Scandinavian Monetary Union alongside Sweden and Norway. Danmarks Nationalbank has issued it ever since, and the name means crown.

The Czech koruna appeared in 1993, after Czechoslovakia dissolved and its shared currency had to be split between the two new states. Issued by the Czech National Bank, it replaced the Czechoslovak koruna that year, alongside a fresh set of coins from 10 haléřů up to 50 korun.
